Asus ROG Swift PG279Q Review – Expensive Price Tag Meets Excellent Image Quality

When you look at what the Asus ROG Swift PG279Q has on offer on paper, it would be the ideal 27-inch gaming monitor. It brings about an IPS panel, which means incredible viewing angles, and it also has a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. It even has G-Sync technology embedded into its list of features as well. Even though it doesn’t offer 4K UHD resolution, it is still a pretty solid choice for anyone looking to upgrade to a better gaming display. However, one look at its price tag might immediately throw off some.

The Asus ROG Swift PG279Q Presents Great Features for Being an Excellent Gaming Display

You cannot deny that the Asus ROG Swift PG279Q makes for a great first impression. Even its design makes it very obvious that it is meant to be for gaming. This is because of its aggressive and angular styling, as well as the presence of its base that lights up. There is a ring of light that surrounds the base of the stand, and the light also illuminates the Asus Republic of Gamers logo on it.

However, and quite surprisingly, the design isn’t “too much” as compared to other computer hardware that are meant for gaming. Other gaming peripherals would go about really sharp edges and other garish choices to make it stand out from the crowd. The ROG Swift PG279Q, on the other hand, is reasonably classy-looking. There are still some additions that are notably meant to appeal for gamers, but overall it doesn’t look too “out there.” As a bonus, it makes use of an impressively slim and low-profile bezel that keeps the display looking as modern and sleek as possible.

As mentioned earlier, the image quality on this particular gaming monitor is top-notch. In fact, many wouldn’t have to tweak the settings on it further as the image quality right out of the box is already decent enough. Contrast is very good as there is an obvious depth towards the dark areas of images, and it maintains a rich but natural styling when it comes to color reproduction. Therefore, it can even be used for professional image editing, rather than just for video-gaming.

So should you purchase the Asus ROG Swift PG279Q? While it does have the features that appeal to many PC gamers, the price tag attached to it can still definitely dent budgets. But the trade-off for spending quite a bit is a wealth of features and superb gaming performance.
