Clash Royale – More Addictive than Clash of Clans

When you go into the Apple App Store or Google Play for Android devices, there is are hundreds, to even thousands of free-to-play downloadable games for the iOS or Android platforms, and two highly popular titles are Clash Royale and perhaps the even more popular Clash of Clans. To be fair, the latter mobile game was launched a lot earlier than the former. However, the former might be even more addictive than the latter.

Clash Royale - More Addictive than Clash of Clans

You Might Not Stop Playing Clash Royale

Right off the bat when you start playing Clash Royale, you will immediately find similar characters and design to Clash of Clans. This is because it is set in the same universe as Supercell’s highly popular game, but you don’t need to play the previously released title to enjoy this new one. With this newer Supercell release, instead of building your own “battle town” and attack other players within the community (whether those players are online or offline), you will get to play a head-to-head strategy game that’s live and in real-time. This means that whoever it is you’re challenging, they’re also trying to win the battle in real-time, hence there’s practically no AI battling you in a match.

In practice, Clash Royale (iOS and Android) feels more like a glorified multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) for your mobile device. This game category has popular games such as League of Legends and DOTA 2. But for this mobile title, it introduces a collectible card game mechanic. With the collected cards, these are randomly added to your hand during battle. Therefore, you have a choice whether or not to place them on the field as you have to spend the necessary amount of elixirs to bring them out.

What makes this title an especially brilliant mobile game is the total lack of play restrictions. In Clash of Clans, for example, you would have to wait for hours, even days before an upgrade gets finished. In Clash Royale, you can play for hours and hours at a time without having any kind of limits installed. Once you have the cash to purchase units and upgrades, then just buy them in the Card Shop.

That is not to say that there are no timer-like features built into Clash Royale, but the thing is that they don’t hinder you from playing again and again. There’s also no “Stamina” or “Energy” required to battle another player. This is the type of mobile game that you can play for hours on end without worry.
