Have you ever had that experience wherein you’re at the edge of your seats in anticipation but then reality rears its ugly head over you as you won’t be getting what you wanted; well, that’s the case for Destiny as the upcoming Rise of Iron downloadable content (DLC) won’t be coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 videogame consoles.

PS3 and Xbox 360 Owners Saddened That Destiny: Rise of Iron Won’t be Coming to Said Consoles

The Rise of Iron DLC is the upcoming expansion pack for the award-winning shooter title Destiny and it will only be arriving to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. After three expansions’ worth of content that had been available for every platform for the game, which even includes the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 home gaming systems, game developer Bungie has now, as it seems, decided to move forward with technology as it now has different plans pertaining to the consoles.

Found in the developer’s weekly update, Bungie shared the details pertaining to Destiny: Rise of Iron. However, the details are a bit on the vague side, especially with regards to their choice in excluding the previous generations of the PlayStation and Xbox consoles. In said update, it reads the following: “Our goal is always to bring every player from this awesome community along for the ride as we continue the story of ‘Destiny.’ At the same time, we will also continue to support players who elect not to upgrade their console hardware.”

This means that those who have been playing the game on the PS3 and on the Xbox 360 will still be able to continue on playing. However, starting this fall, their progression will be much different as compared to the PS4 and Xbox One variants of the title. From here on out, the two systems will be on separate paths.

Developer Bungie did not elaborate further about these two paths, but it would seem that even though the previous generation console owners would still be able to take part in playing the game, as well as still being able to get continued support from the developers, only the current generation consoles will be able to enjoy the upcoming content and chapters for the videogame.

The Rise of Iron DLC for Destiny will be released on the 20th of September this year, and once again, it will only be available for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the title. There is a fee in order to get it as this is an expansion pack and not just your regular update.
