Forza Horizon 3 – October Update Brings Performance Tweaks and a New Car Pack



With the recently released Forza Horizon 3  for the Xbox One platform as well as Windows 10-only PCs, Turn 10 studios was quick with releasing its first major update for their new open world racer set in Australia. With an October 4, 2016 update schedule, the changes brought were mostly performance tweaks specifically for Windows 10 machines, as well as the first release of their monthly car packs; “The Smoking Tire” car pack which includes 7 new cars.

October Update of Forza Horizon 3 is More Stable With Unlocked Framerates for Machines with High End Configurations

Being the second Forza game to be released for Windows 10, (first one being Forza Motorsport 6 Apex) Turn 10 studios gained much experience from their first PC released allowing for better optimization of Forza Horizon 3 with varying configurations of Windows 10 PCs. Major tweaks include a stability fix that allows for smoother framerates when framerates are set to ‘unlocked’ or if the machine achieves higher than the usual 60fps. Along this major stability upgrade is the monthly car pack that’s a paid DLC bringing with it 7 cars to take on an exhilarating drive on the coasts of Australia. The cars included range from exotics like the 2016 Aston Martin Vulcan, 2000 Lotus 340R, 2016 Pagani Huayra BC, 2016, GTA Spano, to road cars like 2016 BMW M2 coupe,1976 Jeep CJ5 Renegade, and even a 2010 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor.

Alongside major changes to the game are further stability improvements with Windows 10, disabling the mouse when driving, and additional options added to the Windows 10 Advanced Controller Menu. Turn 10 Studios also included within the update for Horizon 3 improved support for the Logitech G27 racing wheel with the correct button profiles for each car ready for use with the G27. Aside from the aforementioned improvements, there are also miscellaneous changes wherein the update tweaks with the socials tabs, fixed the disappearing racing line bug, the ability to hot swap controllers while racing, as well as other content fixes for various cars.

With a successful September 27 launch, Forza Horizon 3 delivers the fun of open world exploration as well as in depth car customization with the huge car selection that’s going to grow over the course of a few months. Turn 10 studios also plan to keep optimizing the game especially with Windows 10 machines, as well as providing support for a growing range of controllers and racing wheel setups. This is great news who are fans of the videogame franchise as it means that they won’t get bored anytime soon as more content rolls in regularly.
