Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35mm F2 R WR Review – Inexpensive Way to Get Superb Quality Photos

If you want to get good, or even great quality images, then the normal way of thinking things through is to get a really expensive lens to with your camera, but the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35mm F2 R WR does away with that notion. For one, it’s placed in a more reasonable price point, and this aspect alone already makes it a boon for users of the Fujifilm mirrorless camera system. What’s surprising right out of the box is that the build quality on the optics are superb, and the lens is even weather-sealed. Shooting with it is no laughing matter either. Hence, this is an easy pick for anyone looking to acquire a slightly wider angle point-of-view in their shots.

The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35mm F2 R WR is a Reasonably-Priced Beauty

Even when looking at it through mirrorless standards, the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35mm F2 R WR is a rather petite-looking lens. It only measures at 1.8 x 2.4-inches, and it only weighs 6-ounces. It should also be noted that the front element is able to support 43-millimeter filters. There is also a lens hood included within the standard packaging, and it will screw into the filter thread. Therefore, you would have to unscrew the lens hood if you want to add or remove a filter.

Looking more at the front element of the Fujinon XF 35mm F2 R WR, you will be able to see a manual focus ring. Just like the other lenses of the X system, this manual focusing feature is of the electronic variety. Hence, whenever you turn the focus ring, the internal focus motor will move the element. While controlling the manual focus ring is really smooth, adding more electronics to the mirrorless system means that it will add more strain to the battery. Furthermore, mirrorless camera users know that this kind of camera system do not have such a great battery life.

With all of this being said and done, what is it like shooting with the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35mm F2 R WR? Simply speaking, it is a stellar performer. It provides excellent marks in terms of sharpness, and it only shows approximately 0.5-barrel distortion, which is quite insignificant when it comes to real-world use. Of course, using the lens with higher aperture readings, such as f/2, will leave you with softer corners. However, turn it down to about f/4 and you will see the details getting crisper, and sharp they are. Ultimately, if you’re a Fujifilm mirrorless camera owner, then there is very little reason for you to miss out on this.
