GE CFE28USHSS Review – A Fridge That Brings Coffee on Demand

Traditional refrigerators are there to keep our food products (among others) cool and secured, but the GE CFE28USHSS aims to bring something different. Even though there are some refrigerators that are already known for dispensing hot water for your tea, soup, or coffee beverages, this particular model from General Electric takes things a step further as it has a built-in Keurig coffee-making machine. Therefore, instead of just getting hot water from the fridge (which is not the likely phrase that you will normally say), you can immediately brew a hot cup-of-joe with it.

The GE CFE28USHSS Takes it One Step Further

When you think about the unique points of the GE CFE28USHSS, it does make plenty of sense. The unit has its own dedicated source for bringing out filtered water. Therefore, users don’t have to worry about keeping a reservoir filled up. Furthermore, this is a smart fridge; meaning, when you pull up the dedicated app on your mobile device, you will be able to heat the water in a remote fashion. You can even schedule the device to heat up water in a specific time. Want to wake up with hot water at the ready for your coffee, tea, or soup? This refrigerator says, “Not a problem.”

In terms of looks, the CFE28USHSS does not have any updated designs as like what General Electric did with the Profile Series models. Therefore, this particular refrigerator has the same build as other Café Series units. It has the same 27.8-cubic-foot capacity. This also means that the refrigerator is not available in a slate finish like the newer Profile Series fridges. In other words, if you are planning to get a refrigerator from the Café Series, then it’s stainless steel or nothing.

The selling point of this refrigerator is the Keurig attachment, with its real purpose being to hold your K-Cup in place as the hot water will pass through it. Hence, this attachment is a bit smaller than what you might expect. What you will do is hold up a K-Cup in, then slide it into position located at the right side of the water dispenser. This is where GE installed a second line specifically to dispense running water.

Ultimately, the GE CFE28USHSS is placed in a rather reasonable price tag, especially when you count its size and list of features. Its cooling performance is decent enough, and there are plenty of things to notice about the refrigerator that would let you say “it’s money well spent.”
