HP 250 G4 Review – The Makings of a Bargain Laptop

The HP 250 G4 is primarily aimed at small businesses who are looking to shell out a bit more when purchasing a budget laptop. This is primarily because this particular portable computing device is equipped with a full-fat Intel processor, which is normally found at higher-priced laptops. While still relatively within the budget-friendly price category, it is now made to be more capable of handling multiple business applications, especially when you compare it with other notebooks within the same price category.

The HP 250 G4 Makes for a Beefier Bargain Laptop

With its price, the HP 250 G4 is found to be on even footing with many other business-centric laptops out there, including Chromebooks and low-end 2-in-1 devices. When looking at its design, it is packed with a 15.6-inch display and the screen is clearly made to be for a budget offering. The portable machine is almost clad in black plastic, and the material can be found from head-to-toe. The company has, at the very least, tried to make it a bit less boring by giving the laptop a black based with a thatched diamond effect. This effect is then repeated on the lid but with a silver mesh pattern instead. However, even with these slight breakaways in its design, these do not prevent the machine from looking relatively dull. But then again, if you’re going to use it for business use, you wouldn’t need a flashy machine anyway.

As with many laptops that are made for businesses, the 250 G4 has an excellent build quality for its price. Still, there are some signs of flexing around the edges of the base and on the lid when you do try to bend these areas with enough force. However, the keyboard makes for a more durable area than the rest of the machine. The laptop is also not lightweight as it does tip the scales a bit at 2.8-pounds.

When it comes to its display, there’s not much to say about the low quality resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. It makes the screen to be too cramped for multi-tasking use, and it is quite difficult to pin apps or browsers side-by-side at the same time. However, it would seem that HP knows about this and compensates these areas of shortcomings by making the peak brightness higher as compared to others.

But the main highlight of the HP 250 G4 is that of its Intel Core i3-5005U processor and it is mated to a healthy 8GB of RAM. This means that you can multi-task quite a bit and you won’t be able to see signs of lagging. So if you’re looking for a good performing business laptop and does not mind spending a bit more for performance, this is worth a look.
