If you are a proud owner of an iPhone, and have probably acquired a plan from a mobile carrier that includes a finite amount of cellular data, then switching off your mobile data connection to access the Internet is a must to spare your smartphone’s battery life, not to mention from the possibility of having lots more to pay on your monthly bills. Whatever the reason may be, it is to your best interest to know how to turn off the phone’s cellular data, and these can all be done through the Settings app.
Turning Off the Cellular Data in Your iPhone
Step 1 – To begin this course, open the Settings app on your iPhone. You will be able to see a bunch of options and menu items lined up. In here, seek the Cellular menu item and you will be brought to a new section. In this new menu, you will be able to toggle the Cellular Data switch to the “off” position.
Step 2 – Should you want to turn the cellular data on your iPhone back on again, all you have to do is to repeat the process, but this time just toggle the slider into the “on” position for the Cellular Data portion of the Settings menu.
Step 3 – Turning the handset’s cellular data is not the only option that you can do. If possible, you can even enable or disable the LTE connection for the device. This option is situated just below the Cellular Data menu item found in the Cellular portion of the Settings app. Enabling LTE will load data in your phone’s applications a lot faster. Turning the LTE option off and the cellular connection will fall back to the 3G/4G wireless data network.
What’s the difference between using 3G/4G cellular data as compared to utilizing an LTE connection? Even though using LTE is more advantageous in terms of speed, do note that it does require more power. More power means the more it will eat up your phone’s battery life. Therefore, it is advised to only use LTE whenever required and not all the time.
Following these few simple steps in disabling or re-enabling the cellular data of your iPhone should be at your best interest. You don’t have to turn the device’s mobile Internet all of the time, especially when you’re constantly connected to a home or office Wi-Fi network. Do take note that turning the cellular data on the smartphone can, and will hasten the depletion of your device’s battery life, so use it wisely.
