Lenovo Ideapad 710S 13ISK Review – A Reasonably-Priced Alternative

The Lenovo Ideapad 710S 13ISK is, without a doubt, a premium laptop but that is not immediately reflected in its price tag. It has a metal build, a super-slim frame, long battery life, good performance, great hardware specs, and a quality screen. With its features and functionalities, you might mistake it to be a machine located within the high-end portions of the market. This is where you’re wrong.

The Lenovo Ideapad 710S 13ISK Brings High-End Goodness in a More Attainable Price Point

One look at the Lenovo Ideapad 710S 13ISK and you might even think of it as a great-looking paperweight. But don’t just stare at it, although you can do so from time-to-time. It has an aluminum or magnesium alloy. It looks and feels every bit a high-end ultrabook that you can find from just about any other tech manufacturer. However, it still doesn’t reach the point wherein it is as good and as solidly built as that of the MacBook Air, or the Dell XPS 13. Still, it is a clear step up from other plastic designs.

Aside from it having a very decent build quality, it is also incredibly thin and lightweight. It only has a weight of 1.1-kilograms, and it is just a tad heavier than a MacBook (which has a weight of 0.9-kilograms). However, it does match the MacBook’s slenderness, which is at 13.9-millimeters.

Because of the very thin bezel that is found encasing the screen, the rest of the Ideapad 710S 13ISK is impressively small as well. To give you an idea, it has dimensions of 307 x 214 x 13.9-millimeters. However, users will be able to miss out on some features because of its more compact size. There are only 2 USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader, one micro HDMI output, and a headphone jack for your connectivity options.

The machine is powered by an Intel Core i7-6560U processor, and this is a dual-core chip with Hyper-Threading. This means that it can process four threads at once. Furthermore, this processor includes Intel’s Iris Graphics 540, which is surprisingly powerful for an integrated graphics solution. Hence, even though this machine is a bit on the tiny side, it is still quite capable of playing some games. The processor is even mated to 8GB of RAM, as well as a fast 256GB PCIe SSD.

What you’re going to get with the Lenovo Ideapad 710S 13ISK is a bunch of high-end features, an above average display, and an excellent performance. However, the battery life, although it is still quite good, could be a bit better. There are a few caveats here-and-there, but what you’re going to get for this machine is so much more than its price point.
