When you take a good look at the LG 27UD88-W, you would be able to gaze your eyes upon a very beautiful monitor. Turn it on and fiddle around it for a bit, and you will be graced with a lot of functional features. It has been equipped with a sleek white chasses, along with an elegant-looking curved stand. However, it is still quite difficult to recommend, primarily because of its hefty price tag.

LG 27UD88-W Review - Beautiful but Pricey

The LG 27UD88-W is Great in Just About Every Way You Look at it, and it Should be, Considering its Price Tag

For its design, the LG 27UD88-W definitely looks the part of a high-end monitor. In fact, its looks alone can definitely justify its steep price. The black-and-white chassis screams minimalism and utmost radiance. As for the matte silver stand, it is able to complement any kind of interior d├ęcor.

Speaking of its stand, it is not just there for looks, nor is it a one-trick-pony. It even lets you rotate the entire monitor into portrait mode. As a matter of fact, rotating it is relatively simple; there are no complicated knobs or levers to be found here. You can practically rotate the screen in just about any angle. But if you’re worried with such a feature enabling the 27UD88-W to not be stable, then don’t be; it stays perfectly still, even when you go on full-keyboard warrior mode.

As mentioned earlier, this high-end monitor has a good array of ports found on its rear. There are two HDMI ports, one DisplayPort, two USB 3.0 port, and the aforementioned USB Type-C port. At the time of writing, this is one of the few monitors out on the market that has a USB-C port. Hence, just with this port alone, it does futureproof the unit.

This particular monitor is also ideal for gaming. It has a 60Hz refresh rate, which means that it is more than capable of keeping up with frame rates that are located between 30 and 120-frames-per-second. Practically just about every modern game that you throw at it will look really fluid, and none of those will suffer from tearing or stuttering. It also makes sense that the monitor is equipped with AMD’s FreeSync technology.

Even though the color accuracy and brightness is just at a very decent level, the LG 27UD88-W still does well in distinguishing itself as one of the better models out there. Ultimately, there is no denying that this monitor is beautiful and functional. However, you might want to consider lower-priced models, that is if you’re on a tight budget. But if you have the cash to spare, then it is definitely worth your time to check this out.
