Samsung Gear S3 Frontier Review – A Well-Connected Watch/Tracker

The time for sporting a classy watch is here once again, but the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier is more than just your average timepiece. In fact, it is more than just your traditional smartwatch either. It has the looks that would make you want to wear it practically everywhere you would want to go, while being able to track your daily exercise routines and other activities. Furthermore, its performance and feature offerings looks like it is the South Korean tech giant’s best active wearable device to-date. However, it is also the largest, but you wouldn’t mind the unit drawing attention to itself anyway because it does have an inconspicuous design for a fitness tracker.

The Samsung Gear S3 Frontier is the Firm’s Best Fitness Tracker To-Date

Aside from looking really good for a fitness tracker, the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier has features that you would want in a wearable. It is rugged (in which wearable devices geared towards fitness-centric individuals should be), and it is even capable of an LTE connection. This means that you don’t have to have the device “chained” to your smartphone as you can just leave your handset at home while you’re venturing out into the world. Is this a good idea? Well, for some, especially those who go on daily jogs around town that have to lug around their huge handsets.

It should also be noted that the Gear S3 Frontier is just one of two new smartwatches that has been released by Samsung during IFA 2016. Both of which have a rather confusing Gear S3 name, and both models even have identical hardware specs. However, there are some key differences that do split the two siblings apart. With the Frontier model, it separates itself from the Classic by being geared towards fitness-centric individuals rather from the casual user.

Furthermore, the Frontier, even though it has the same dimensions as the Classic as both models come with measurements of 46 x 49 x 12.9-millimeters, it is a bit heavier. For comparison’s sake, the Classic has a weight of 57-grams while the Frontier weighs 62-grams. With its weight, the Frontier is also slightly heavier than that of the standard Apple Watch or the Apple Watch Sport.

Even though it does look like an ordinary smartwatch, the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier has a gaggle of features stored inside of it. Also, it has an Always-on Display, which means you no longer have to press a button or tap the screen just to make the wearable “wake up.” Ultimately, if you like sports or fitness, and is an active person, this is the smartwatch/fitness tracker to get.
