Sennheiser PXC 550 Wireless Review – Rivaling the Bose QC35

What you get with the Sennheiser PXC 550 Wireless is a very comfortable pair of headphones that is reasonably lightweight. These over-ear wireless headphones also sound very good, and it does offer an impressive noise-cancellation technology the likes of which can even rival that of the Bose Quiet Comfort 35’s performance. It also has touch controls and performs excellently as a headset with a strong battery life. But one thing that may put people off right off the bat is its price tag, as Sennheiser’s offering is pricier than that of Bose’s.

Sennheiser PXC 550 Wireless Review - Rivaling the Bose QC35

The Sennheiser PXC 550 Wireless Has a Noise-Cancellation Feature That Rivals the Bose Q35

Just like the Bose Quiet Comfort 35, the Sennheiser PXC 550 Wireless is quite the comfortable pair of headphones. Furthermore, it is relatively lightweight with a weight of 8-ounces, or 227-grams. While still comparing the two headphones, Sennheiser’s headphone has an earcup design that is different than that of the Bose QC35 as it does not have as wide as opening as the headphones offered by Bose. This is partially due to the earpads being puffier. So who won the comfort round? The Bose QC35 still wins the comfort crown, but it doesn’t mean Sennheiser’s offering is far behind.

The PXC 550 Wireless does fold up neatly into a nice little package, and it even has its own carrying case right out of the standard packaging. It does feel like the headphone is well-built, but it doesn’t have the premium touches of the company’s own Momentum II Wireless.

What immediately differentiates Sennheiser’s headphone from the Bose Quiet Comfort 35 is that it has touch controls found on the right ear cup. Furthermore, the device will automatically turn on as soon as you put it on your ears. Also, it will automatically shut down when you fold it flat. When talking about Bluetooth pairing, it does work flawlessly. There are some Bluetooth streaming hiccups, but these are very minimal.

When it comes to the sound quality as well as the active noise-cancellation technology found on the Sennheiser PXC 500 Wireless, you will find these features to perform quite good. However, Bose’s offering is still the clear winner in this regard, but once again, these Sennheiser headphones do not lag too far behind. As a matter of fact, it does come really close. It offers hiss-free listening, and even when listening to your favorite tracks with the highest volume level available, it is essentially free of those hisses.
