Xiaomi Mi5 Review – Beauty Comes to its Price

If you’re looking for a handset that you would have no trouble showing off with your friends and family, then the Xiaomi Mi5 is a prime suggestion. Even though it has its fair share of shortcomings, this is, by far, one of the most beautiful smartphones you can lay your eyes on. So you would be forgiven to immediately assume that it has the price to match its beauty. News flash – it is also one of the most reasonably-priced phones out there.

Xiaomi Mi5 Review - Beauty Comes to its Price

The Xiaomi Mi5 is “Pretty” Amazing in Multiple Areas

Do note that there are two models you can get for the Xiaomi Mi5: one has a “3D Glass” back which also comes in 32GB or 64GB built-in storage options, and has 3GB of RAM, and the other is a Pro model, in which has a ceramic back. For the Pro variant, it comes with 128GB built-in storage and 4GB of RAM, and a higher price tag.

Even though the standard model has a glass back, it doesn’t mean that you would have to take extra care of it towards unreasonable levels. Now you might be scared to place it on top of slanted surfaces, but don’t be, well, not too much anyway. This is because the build quality of the phone is quite top-notch. Even if it did fall off from a surface of medium height, the phone, and most especially that back surface, will still remain intact. This means that the Mi5 is far from being fragile.

There might even be a lot of skepticism involved, when the smartphone is made from a Chinese manufacturer. However, even just for this one handset, it should be in your best interest to cat all of those skepticism aside. This is because it has a metal frame that looks, and feels that it was designed by Samsung itself. The 5.15-inch screen extends really close to the edges, that you would wonder how Xiaomi was able to do such a feat.

Speaking of its display, the Xiaomi Mi5 has a very impressive one at that. Turn the screen on from being powered off or wake it from sleep, and you will be met with a modest resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixel resolution. Even though you might be looking for a pixel resolution of 1,440 x 2,560, numbers might not mean much for this one. This is because the images, icons, and text being displayed are bright, colorful, and have plenty of detail. Perhaps the major caveat for this handset is that there’s no expandable storage option. If you can get by with that, then you’ve got yourself a marvel of a smartphone.
