YouTube – How to Download Videos and View Them Offline

Back in September of 2013, the popular video streaming service YouTube had announced that it would be starting to offer offline viewing to its mobile applications. With this feature, you can save and watch the videos while you’re on your daily commute, or practically anywhere when you don’t have an Internet connection. While this may sound like a dream come true, it’s not an actual reality. Why? Because the downloaded videos will be deleted after a set amount of time. Therefore, if you want to watch them again in offline mode, you would have to download them once more. There are ways, on the other hand, that will allow you to download and view these videos permanently, or until when you want to delete them from your system.

How to Download YouTube Videos and Save Them Permanently

While there are many ways that you can download YouTube videos, either through the use of a browser plug-in or that of simply pasting a URL of the video into another website, there is another method that would just let you add some letters to the URL then press Enter on your keyboard to download the video. However, that method is no longer available since it goes against the service’s terms and conditions.

Even though adding letters to the YouTube video (i.e. dlyoutube.com/) is no longer available, there are still ways for you to download and view the videos to your system. For instance, you can make use of KeepVid to do just that.

First of all, head on to youtube.com and search for a video that you want to download. Then, copy the URL from your browser’s address bar. Once you’ve copied the URL, head on to keepvid.com then click on the box to the left of the Download button. Paste the URL of the video in said box then hit the Download button right next to it. Be warned, there might be a lot of download buttons that may be floating around the website and these can lead you to other websites on where you don’t want to be. Hence, just stick to the one at the direct right of the white bar where you’ve placed the URL of the video.

Once the Download button has been clicked, it will show a bunch of options for different formats and resolutions for the YouTube video. Click on your preferred file format and resolution and it will initiate the download. Once that download has been completed, all you need to do is enjoy the video and without having to worry that your system will delete any time soon.
