The 2016 Audi Q7 3.0 V6 TDi Quattro is a luxury crossover SUV that strikes a balance with its features offering plenty of great things that make it a very nice vehicle. Last year (2015) Volkswagen was involved in an emissions cheating scandal with one of their turbodiesel engines and that same engine is the one equipped in the TDi variant of the 2016 Q7. Upon hearing the Audi marquee, one would expect premium everything especially for a vehicle classed as a luxury SUV; and the Q7 does it with class.
The 2016 Audi Q7 3.0 V6 TDi Quattro Drives With Class
On the outside, compared to most SUVs the 2016 Audi Q7 3.0 V6 TDi Quattro is a crossover SUV that sits on a longer wheelbase which makes the Q7 look more like a lifted wagon with boxy, muscular lines. Up front, it is equipped with the latest company image from Audi featuring the angular horseshoe grille complimented by the LED DRL with the same angular aesthetics. At the sides is the aforementioned wagon-like side profile with muscular bulges with the lower end 19-inch wheels that makes the car look cheaper because at this price point, you would expect 21-inch low profile wheels. Looks aside, under the hood is the Volkswagen-based 3.0 Liter V6 TDi that caused a stir with emissions tests results but nonetheless delivers excellent performance. The 272hp diesel engine is mated to Audi’s 8-speed ZF automatic and the Quattro AWD system making for a high stable vehicle on or off road.
On the inside, Audi finishes the interior of the 2016 Q7 3.0 V6 TDi Quattro with premium materials all over the place without grabbing too much attention. Upon entering the upscale quality is immediately felt but you’ll appreciate the quality and attention to detail better upon closer inspection making you admire the cabin even more. Features include the soon-to-be-implemented on all VW group vehicles is the virtual cockpit digital display which replaces the traditional gauges for a 12.3 inch LCD. Other features such as a secondary 8.3 inch infotainment display, a touchpad with haptic feedback, four-zone climate control as well as various safety features coming in standard.
Driving the 2016 Audi Q7 3.0 V6 TDi Quattro, the Quattro AWD system instils confidence on road with excellent grip coupled with the powerful V6 engine it makes quick work of uphill bends as well as dirt roads. The Q7 offers seven distinct driving modes including one custom setting. Despite being heavy the Q7 is very quick with excellent brakes and superb lateral grip.
