Was there a time when you’ve been too excited to install a particular software taken from an unknown source on the Internet that you accidentally install an adware into your computer? Well, don’t worry because you’re not alone, and there are many solutions out there that can help you out. However, there are some annoying programs that will attach themselves into other applications, and they will alter the settings such as change the default search engine being used in a browser, or will display pop-up ads every few minutes near the taskbar. For these kinds of annoying applications, there’s AdwCleaner to help you with your dilemma.
Deleting Unwanted Adware With AdwCleaner
Step 1 – The first step to getting rid of annoying adware is to download AdwClener. Once that is properly downloaded, do take note that this is a portable application. This means that it requires no installer and it will work on its own. You can even place it inside your thumb drive and it will work as intended. Now, double-click on the application to begin, and make sure that you give it the permissions for it to operate.
Step 2 – Once AdwCleaner is running, you will notice three main interface options: Scan, Clean, and Logfile. What you need to click on first is the “Scan” button, and the software will start looking for potentially problematic programs. After a few minutes of scanning, you will be able to see results. It will then list down four kinds of malware that are spread out across different tabs. Not only can it scan for adware, but it can also look for potentially undesirable software, unwanted toolbars, and hijacking programs.
Step 3 – Do a quick manual scan on the formulated list and uncheck any items that you actually want to keep. Once you’ve made sure that the list is to your liking, the next step is to click on the “Clean” button and it will automatically remove any checked item from your system.
Step 4 – Once the adware, and other potentially harmful programs have been deleted from your computer, it will ask you to restart your computer. Make sure that you close other applications running on your system before continuing to avoid having an improper shutdown procedure. You may be wondering what the “Logfile” button does, and clicking on it will give you a detailed list on where the problematic files and registry keys lie (or have laid).
