If there is one thing that many Android phone owners have in common, it is that they love customization, and those using Google’s Messenger is no exception. When you tap on a conversation, you will see that they have a specific color. However, there is a way you can change the color of any conversation just by going to its menu. Read on to learn how.
Changing the Color of a Conversation in the Google Messenger App Using an Android Device
Step 1 – The first step is to jump into the conversation found in the Google Messenger app using your Android phone. It should be noted that there isn’t a blanket color setting, which means that the change in color is specific for each person and conversation. Now, once you’re inside the conversation, tap the three-button overflow menu located at the top-right corner of the conversation window. In the menu that pops up, select “People & options.”
Step 2 – You will then be shown a handful of options that has Notifications, Sounds, and Block a specific person within the conversation. Leave those and what you want is to go to the names of the people within the conversation and tap on the color palette icon located right beside their names. You can then choose a color/shade from the many choices available. However, there is no way to select a truly custom color (like with a hexadecimal code or otherwise). Therefore, you’re stuck with what is offered to you with the Android application. On the bright side, there is quite a bit of options available, so you’re not just stuck with colors that have the same number as the fingers on one of your hands.
Step 3 – As soon as you select a color from the color palette, the change will immediately take place in the Android messaging application. There is no need to hit an “OK” button or tap on a “Continue” button to make the change final. The change will even take place even on the People & options menu. You can then proceed to tap on the other conversations found in the Google Messenger app and change their colors to your desired options. However, the change in color is just for that one device, so if you have any other devices that you use wherein you chat with other people using this particular messaging app, then you would have to do it all over again.
