If you’re making the switch from an Android smartphone to an iPhone, then you would want to move your data and the information from your contacts from your old device to the new one. However, transferring them one-by-one is not a viable option as it would take an immense amount of time and effort to do it. Thankfully, with the release of the iOS 9 mobile operating system, as well as the existence of the Move to iOS app for Android devices, users will now be able to make the switch in a cleaner and faster process.
Transferring Your Contacts and Other Data to an iPhone
Step 1 – To start, set aside your Android phone for just a while and head on to your iPhone instead. Start up the guided setup process on your iPhone, and when you reach the portion that says Apps & Data, select the option that says “Move Data from Android.”
Step 2 – Now, on your Android smartphone, go to the Google Play Store and download the app called Move to iOS. Just tap the Install button to begin the download and installation of the mobile application. Once that has been installed, open it up and agree to the terms and conditions. Selecting “Agree” on the apps on both devices will give you a 6 to 10-digit code that will appear on the iPhone.
Step 3 – At this point, enter the code on the Android device. Your devices will then be connected over a peer-to-peer Wi-Fi connection. Do take note that it is sometimes necessary for some Android devices to be in Airplane mode during the initial portions of the pairing process.
Step 4 – Once the pairing is successful, select the data that you would like transfer to your iPhone. Once you’re satisfied with what you’ve just selected, tap on Next. The options that you can select to transfer include contact information, Google Account info, Google Chrome bookmarks, messages, and even the pictures and videos found in your camera roll.
Step 5 – For the final step in transferring your files and information from your Android device to an iPhone is to wait for the transfer to be completed. The duration of the operation will depend on the amount of data being transferred. It could take 10-minutes to even 1-hour, and the latter scenario is possible if you really do have a lot of files and data to be transferred.
