Getting a new Android smartphone can both be exciting and challenging at the same time. This is because you essentially have to lose everything that is found in the previous device, and then you would have to transfer all those data into the new phone. This is because there are some things that don’t automatically sync into your Google account, namely your text messages. However, it doesn’t have to be such a dilemma, as all you need to do is download an app called SMS Backup & Restore.
Transferring SMS From One Android Device to Another With SMS Backup & Restore
Step 1 – The first thing to do is to download and install the aforementioned application on both Android phones. Furthermore, make sure that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, otherwise it won’t work. Also, if you’re trying to transfer your text messages with the use of a cellular network, it won’t work this way either.
Step 2 – Now, open the application on both Android smartphones, and on the main screen, tap on the “Transfer” button. There should be a new box that will pop up and it will give you all the details as to how the transferring will work. To summarize things, it will be sent over the Wi-Fi network. There are two choices that can be seen in the dialog box, and select the appropriate one to proceed. For those who are wondering the two choices are “Send from this phone” and “Receive from this phone.”
Step 3 – Once the choices have been made, the phones will immediately start “looking” for each other within the network. Once the sending phone is able to “see” the receiving phone, tap it on the list that appears. After which, it will initiate the transfer sequence. It should also be noted that the sending phone will need to have an “invite” command to be pushed on the receiving phone. You would have to, of course, have to accept this in order to proceed.
Step 4 – Once the connection has been made for both Android handsets, the sending phone will now appear with a few options which are “Transfer texts and call logs from the current state,” or “Use the most recent backup.” Choose the more appropriate option for your needs and tap on OK. Now all you have to do is wait until the transfer sequence is complete, and you can continue on with your SMS conversations on your new phone.
