Asus ZenWatch 3 Review – Competes With Style

If you’ve known about how Asus designs their products, then the Asus ZenWatch 3 makes a slight shift from their norm. It brings a much preferred circular display for the third iteration of their wearable device. Furthermore, it offers a more premium look than its predecessors. Out of the box, it comes with a rubber strap, but there is also a leather variant that is placed in a slightly higher price point.

The Asus ZenWatch 3 Makes a Shift in Design Choice

The predecessors of the Asus ZenWatch 3 offered a square display, while this newer model has a fully-circular 1.39-inch AMOLED screen. Said display offers a 400 x 400 pixel resolution, which does mean that the screen is made to be brighter, sharper, and clearer. While it is made to be brighter than its two predecessors, you might still want to crank up the brightness to maximum if you’re outside on a really sunny day. Even though you do max out the brightness while you’re outdoors in a really sunny day, it is still a bit tricky to take a look at things. To be fair, this is a problem met with just about all smartwatches, so Asus’ smartwatch doesn’t actually lose points in this criteria.

When you put it on your wrist, you will be able to feel the premium stainless steel body of the ZenWatch 3. Overall, it does feel great, and the weight is reasonably light so you won’t have to worry about the watch wearing down your arm after wearing it for the entire day.

There are three color variations available, which are silver, gray, and rose gold. However, there are some that wouldn’t like these color and material offerings because they are a tad too shiny. So if you’re outside and the watch does catch some light, be prepared to blind some people with the reflection coming off of the watch.

When it comes to performance, it is pretty slick, and it should be considering that it packs Qualcomm’s new dedicated processing unit for smartwatches, which is the Snapdragon 2100. However, there is nothing much to say about the entire experience as there is practically nothing new, sans for a slight speed boost. Speaking of speed, another advantage to the new Qualcomm processor is that it is capable of fast charging.

Ultimately, the Asus ZenWatch 3 is a solidly built, premium Android wearable device. While the design might be new for some, it’s offers a design choice wherein you love it or hate it. Still, you can’t go wrong with the faster processor and the quick charging capabilities.
