At first glance, the color of the Breville PressXpress VIN339 might immediately draw you in, or it might let you shy away from it. It is a purple steam iron that does perform quite for its mid-range price tag. It also has a pointy precision tip, with a wide soleplate as well as a powerful steam output. Put these together into one package and it can make quick work for your ironing pile.
If You Don’t Mind the Color, the Breville PressXpress VIN339 Can be a Powerful Tool for Your Ironing Needs
Love it or hate it, the Breville PressXpress VIN339 only comes in one color – purple. It stands on its heel and it makes the entire device slender near the base. It does so in a way that it does look quite elegant, but when you do this it also makes it a bit wobbly. That narrow portion is also perfect for storing the device’s power cord. However, and quite annoyingly, there is no clip to hold the plug end. Therefore, you will need to tick the plug in, which doesn’t make for the best of convenience.
Speaking of its cord, the PressXpress VIN339 has a lengthy one as it comes with a length of 3-meters. It is also attached with a 360-degree ball in order to minimize tangles while being able to maximize maneuverability. While it does bode well, it doesn’t make for the best of convenience when plugging it in and out of the wall socket due to the lack of a clip.
As for the controls, they are well-positioned so that you can change settings with just a slight move of your thumb. There are controls for steam shot and for spray. There’s also a slider, which is also near your thumb, if you want to choose the intensity of the steam coming out of it. If you don’t want any steam, you can also turn it off completely.
Filling this particular iron is a breeze. While some irons have narrow fill holes that would make for spills, it is really hard to miss this one. But if you do miss, the plastic around the unit is contoured just like a funnel. This design choice will guide the water into the reservoir in the event of spills, which is mighty impressive.
Speaking of its reservoir, the Breville PressXpress VIN339 carries quite the large container as can hold 400-millileters of water. But the downside to having such a large container is it will add extra weight to this already heavy iron. While it does have its own set of minor caveats, it doesn’t hinder this great performer at performing what it does best.
