There are many online services that are going for the encrypted way of sending and receiving messages for added protection for their users, and thankfully Facebook, the social networking giant, has now rolled in with the times as it introduced Secret Conversation Mode some time ago. If you want to make sure that your conversations are encrypted and secure, read on to know how to turn this feature on.
Facebook’s Secret Conversation Mode Encrypts Your Messages for Added Privacy
Step 1 – To make use of Secret Conversation Mode in Facebook, first of all, you have to select which device to use because you can’t use the feature with multiple devices at the same time. Furthermore, you have to use that selected device for all of your encrypted conversation. Therefore, if you’re using the Messenger app on your phone, then you have to use your smartphone every time you want to make use of the feature.
Step 2 – But what if you want to use the Secret Conversation Mode of Facebook in another device? That can be done but it is not automatic like many of the social media’s other services. But before that, to turn the feature on, head on to the app on your chosen device and tap the silhouette “Me” icon found in the lower corner of the application’s screen. In the new menu, scroll down until you get to see “Secret Conversations,” and give it a good tap.
Step 3 – You will only see a couple of options in this new portion of the menu, and this time toggle the Secret Conversations slider to the on position. If you’re worrying that you have to update the option across all of your devices, don’t be; this is because it will automatically update itself as soon as you change the primary device as to where the feature will be used.
Step 4 – To make use of the Secret Conversation Mode in the Facebook app, tap on the compose icon within the main screen of the app, and select “Secret” which is found on the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Once you’ve selected it, just search for a friend that you would want to have the secret conversation with. To separate the secret conversation from the rest of the conversations in your list, there will be a black lock icon which will tell you that this particular conversation is encrypted.
