GE GFDS260EFWW Dryer Review – Falls Short Due to Awful Controls

When you’re looking for a dryer that has an impressive combination of great performance, premium design, and an enjoyable control system, then you won’t find that in the GE GFDS260EFWW Dryer. While it does do what it does best, which remove water from your clothes with its relative swiftness, and it features a roomy 8-cubic-foot capacity to accommodate hefty loads, it does deliver quite a bit of shortcomings that might make it hard for this particular unit to be recommended.

The GE GFDS260EFWW Dryer Can be a Bit Difficult to Recommend

For its measurements, the GE GFDS260EFWW Dryer comes with dimensions of 39.66-inches for its height, 28-inches for its width, and by 34-75-inches for its depth. As mentioned earlier, it comes equipped with an 8-cubic-foot capacity drum and it is a smidgen larger than that of the LG DLEX 5000.

Aside from its larger-sized drum, this particular dryer manufactured by General Electric has the conventional laundry-appliance-look down. In other words, it is practically a drab white cube, and the only flashing thing pertaining to its design is the element of a silver band of trim that is above the drum door. Then there’s that confusing control panel (which we will get to that part in a bit).

Just like the Electrolux EFME617S, the GFDS260EFWW Dryer is not placed in the category of the “best of the best” in terms of large home appliances with a companion app as well as with the latest in smart abilities. For this particular unit, you will get 12 dryer cycles, and controls to tweak the cycle temperature and dryness level.

For its controls, it has a circular knob that is used for selecting your desired dryer cycle. It is quite simple enough to operate, but there’s a catch. For each selection, there is a tiny, orange light that will illuminate to tell you what option you’ve selected. That light is faint, and it will practically disappear when viewed in certain angles.

Another drawback it its digital screen, which will show you the estimated time that is left for the current cycle. Likewise, it suffers from you not being able to view what’s in the screen at certain angles, especially when you’re looking at it straight down from above, or if your point-of-view is situated too far from the left or right.

Even though the GE GFDS260EFWW Dryer can quickly dry your clothes, there are other, better options out there and they are found at a near identical price point. Simply put, this is a product that may be tough to live with.
