Gigabyte Aorus X3 Review – High Performer But Has Poor Battery Life

The Gigabyte Aorus X3 is dubbed as the “most powerful 13.9-inch laptop” by the company that made it, and it may very well be. There are a lot of laptops with the same display size that’s already out in the market, but there is only a handful that can match up to Gigabyte’s contender in terms of power alone.  It uses top-of-the-line hardware specs that come from Intel and Nvidia that are under its hood. It also delivers a high-resolution screen that is a beauty to behold for your peepers. However, not everything about it are flowers and daisies as the entire package can break banks. Furthermore, with all that power installed within it, the battery life couldn’t keep up.

Gigabyte Aorus X3 Review – High Performer But Has Poor Battery Life

The Gigabyte Aorus X3 Packs Power Within

For its exterior, the Gigabyte Aorus X3 is encased in a matte-black aluminum material that has a few smart accents. For its lid, it has a small ridged section which is joined by the Aorus logo. That same logo can also be found on the trackpad. On the inside, the design is similarly modest to its exterior looks. There is, once again, the Aorus logo that can be found just beneath the screen, and then there’re a couple of stickers to complete the entire look.

It has a thick rear wherein you can locate two large, angled vents. The speaker grilles can be found at the front of the machine. As for the power button, it is located at the right-hand edge, and it also shares the same space with three USB 3.0 ports, a USB 3.1 port, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs, and an SD card reader.

For its internals, its core components are indeed a beast in terms of performance, which is actually not that surprising considering the Aorus X3 is meant to be used for gaming. For its GPU, you will get an Nvidia GTX 970M and it is one of the company’s best mobile chips due to its 1,280 stream processors, as well as a 924MHz core clock. Furthermore, Gigabyte has installed the heftier version that has 6GB of GDDR5 memory.

The Nvidia graphics processing unit is accompanied with an Intel iCore i7-6700HQ, which has four Hyper-threaded cores that are clocked in at 2.6GHz. It can even be boosted further with Turbo Boost to a peak of 3.5GHz. It is also accompanied by 16GB of 2,133MHz of DDR4 memory.

While the Gigabyte Aorus X3 does pack a lot of power, the display is astounding, gaming performance is near unparalleled with other gaming laptops of the same size, the battery power could be better. If you want to do some serious gaming without having to worry about the battery dying out on you, it’s best to keep the unit plugged in at all times.
