iOS – How to Delete Text Messages and iMessages

Deleting Text Messages and iMessages From Your iOS Device

Step 1 – To delete a specific message from a conversation from your Messages app in iOS device, first of all, tap the conversation to open it. Within the conversation, tap and hold any message that you want to delete. There will be a pop-up menu that will be revealed. Once it does, tap on “More.” You will then be brought to a selection of bubbles that you want to select. Select one or more bubbles then delete the trash icon found on the lower left to delete the messages. However, do note that the device won’t let you confirm if you really want to delete the messages, so make sure that you know what you’re about to do prior to deleting the selected items.

Step 2 – If you want to delete an entire conversation, go back to the main messages view in Apple iOS device. Then, all you have to do is slide a conversation to the left and it will reveal a Delete button. Tap on it to delete the entire conversation at once.

Step 3 – If you want to delete multiple conversations at once, remain on the main Messages screen and then tap on “Edit.” Tapping on the button will reveal selection bubbles that will show on the left side of the conversations. You can tap on these bubbles to select the conversations that you want to delete. Once you’ve confirmed your choices, you can just tap the Delete button that can be found on the lower right portion of your device’s screen. Once again, the deletion happens right away and there is no prior confirmation before the process takes place. Hence, and once again, you have to be sure that you know what you’re about to do.

The process for deleting SMS messages or iMessages from your iOS device is pretty much straightforward. This is great if you want to delete sensitive information such as your credit card details, or if you just don’t want to see a person’s name pop up within the main messages menu.
