Lava BrightSounds 2 Review – It’s a Lamp AND a Speaker

There are a lot of 2-in-1 items on the market already, and a speaker-slash-lamp may not already be entirely new to you, so with that being said, what does the Lava BrightSounds 2 have that separates it more from the crowd? Well, it does throw in some neat features in its mix. Since it is already known right off the bat that this unit is also a speaker, as well as letting you have a pretty decent level of brightness to get your nightly reading done, it even has an included USB port so you can charge your mobile devices with it.

Lava BrightSounds 2 Review - It's a Lamp AND a Speaker

The Lava BrightSounds 2 Let’s You Listen to Your Favorite Tracks and Let’s You Get Your Nightly Reading Done

The Lava BrightSounds 2 has a budget-friendly price tag, and with it comes a similar size and shape to that of the Amazon Echo. With that being said, take note that it’s not the most portable wireless Bluetooth speaker on the market, but you can still bring it along on your next camping trip without a lot of hassle. Still, place it inside your backpack and you would have very little space to put in more items, like extra clothes. At the very least, it is not that heavy as it only weighs 642-grams.

For the speaker portion of the BrightSounds 2, it does come in many color variations, and these include mustard, teal, blue, green, and pink. There is a brown leather handle that fixes to the speaker which will allow you to carry the unit around like an old lamp. So if you’re looking for a Halloween costume the next time around, and you need some light to bring along while knocking on doors and getting some candy, this might just be the perfect partner for your candy runs.

As for the lamp portion, you will be able to adjust the brightness of the device with the use of the lamp button, and in doing so will let it gradually become dimmer until you get to its lowest setting. Hold the button down once more and it will go back to its maximum brightness. While it is not bright enough to become a fluorescent lighting fixture that you can attach to your ceiling, it is still bright enough to be a bedside partner.

But when it comes to audio quality, this is where the Lava BrightSounds 2 truly dims the most. The bass levels needs more to be desired, and the mids and treble could do better. There is a decent level of clarity, however, but it’s just at the level that’s right for the money you spend on it. Truly, this is a budget-friendly device with features and performance fit for its price tag.
