For all of the startups making coding playthings for children, the giant mule that’s Lego merely Buckaroo’d their attempts into dust. Shame, but Lego Boost does appear terrific: a whole system of programmable pieces and also a block-coding app, aimed at a lower age point than its present Mindstorms codables. Instructions for five starter versions have Boost, including a playable guitar, a robot called Vernie and an AutoBuilder – a miniature production line for making Lego versions. But it’s the custom endeavors nicely be excited about come August. Uh, excited for our children, we mean.
