Pokémon Go, Niantic’s much hyped baby after being built up by Ingress users, has had its share of the limelight and from its release most of the hype died down and eventually the sharp rise and fall of the players playing the game is now starting to stabilize into a flatline with a few bumps in between. Niantic has been a little slow on the updates and even add or taking away features in the game since launch. It seems already late but this coming Halloween, Niantic will be pushing through with its first special event; the Halloween event.
Niantic Has More Plans for Pokémon Go
Thanks to Niantic’s first “get out and explore” location-based game Ingress, it has allowed Pokémon Go to have a well-established game world that already has the landmarks for Gyms and Pokestops predefined. For a few months the surge of players kept coming and it seemed that it has no plans of going down. Niantic has released major updates for the game such as the appraisal system for gauging the potential of the Pokémon you caught and allows you to see if it’s a viable candidate to be raised for battling gyms and whatnot. A few touches here and there such as UI improvements and system stability updates later and the game is still going strong. Then came the sudden decline in the player base where the game reached its peak and has now started going down at a steady pace, it seemed that most find it repetitive and it gets old really quick; especially for those living in less urban areas, it’s no fun having to catch Rattatas and Pidgeys for the rest of your Pokémon career.
A few months on since release and with winter coming to parts of the globe, it seems playing a mobile app outside is counter-intuitive when you’d want to stay inside where it’s warm and cozy, Niantic gives players some incentive to go and pick up their phones and start playing the game again. Pokemon Go’s Halloween Special Event will feature the ghost type and Halloween-appropriate gen 1 Pokémons such as Zubat, Golbat, Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Drowzee, and Hypno which will be more common than usual during the special event. Like Halloween, the Pokémon candy will also be plentiful. During the event every Pokémon you catch gets double the candy yield, the professor will also give out two candies for every Pokémon transferred to him and your buddy Pokémon will also award you candy four times faster than usual.
Other than that, with the Pokemon Go Halloween event candy is also doubled when you hatch eggs, which will be useful when you’re walking around getting real candy from the neighbourhood so keep walking around and enjoy your Halloween evening. The event starts from October 26 to November 1.
