One of the hardest things to do in any game that is connected to the Internet is not beating the final boss, nor getting the best equipment for your character to have, but by creating a name for your avatar, and this is certainly the case with the hit mobile app from Niantic Labs, Pokémon Go. If you’ve been living under a rock these past few weeks, then do know this game has taken the world by storm. Since there are many registered players that go over the millions who are playing it every day, once you start the game you will be asked to create a name. If you create a name with something as simple as “Roger,” or “Bob,” or even “Christine,” then chances are these names are already taken. Hence, you’re left with something like “Roger58415,” which, for many, doesn’t sound too good. Thankfully, the developers would now allow players to change their name once. But you have to choose wisely, since this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for you to finally get the name for your avatar that you want.
Changing Your Name in Pokémon Go
Step 1 – The first thing to do is to open up Pokémon Go on your device. While it may sound pretty obvious, do take note that there are some instances that name change services for game exist outside the videogame itself. Moving forward, once in the game, tape the Pokéball located at the center of the screen.
Step 2 – There will be a bunch of options that will appear in the Pokémon Go app. For changing your name, go to the Settings button which is found way up at the top right of the screen. There will now be an option there that says “Change Nickname.”
Step 3 – Tapping on Change Nickname will allow you to change the name of your avatar. But do take note that this can only be done once (as mentioned earlier). Not once a day, and not once a week; just once. Therefore, give it a lot of thought first before finalizing the new name for your avatar.
Hopefully, you would have made a name for your virtual trainer in Pokémon Go that hasn’t been taken yet. However, and as mentioned earlier, it can be quite tough now since there are already millions of registered players, and each one of them bears a unique name for their avatars.
