The curved craze of the South Korean tech manufacturer continues on with the Samsung UE65KS9500, but this is more than just a mere curved-screen TV. It has the ability to support high dynamic range (HDR) footage, and it is even an astounding performer in this regard. In fact, turn the feature on and you will be met with hands down the most dramatic demonstration of what the technology can do. The brightness levels are delivered jaw-droppingly good, and it does help to get a fuller sense of videos because of the expanded light range and color capabilities.
The Samsung UE65KS9500 Presents Top-Notch HDR Performance
When you look at the features and hardware specifications of the Samsung UE65KS9500 on paper, you wouldn’t be surprised that you would be impressed about what’s written. One particularly impressive aspect is its maximum brightness as it can deliver around 1,400 nits. For comparisons sake, this figure makes the TV’s display performance to be brighter than LG’s latest OLED TV series. Power up the TV and turn on the HDR and you will see that what’s written on paper is not, in any way, false advertisement.
If the awesome lighting performance is not enough for you to seal the deal, then do know that the UE65KS9500 makes use of the company’s Quantum Dot technology. In other words, it can deliver more than 90-percent of the so-called DDCI-P3 digital cinema color range. To note, this has already become the current target for many TV’s that do support high dynamic range playback.
Going back to its lighting, this TV is by far one of the best, if not THE best in delivering accurate backlighting in which many LCD TVs are found to be struggling with. There is an array of lights directly placed behind the screen, and they are controlled by a local diming system. With this system, it is able to dish out independent levels of brightness found within different light clusters.
The TV is not just all about performance as it is also a seriously attractive piece of technology. It has a silver frame that is incredibly slim and has just the right amount of “bling” in it. It has a premium-looking brush aluminum “boomerang” stand which is a work of art all on its own.
However, if there is one thing that you would either love or hate about the Samsung UE65KS9500, it is that of its curved screen. There are some who would rather stick to flat profiles for their TVs, whereas there are those who absolutely adore curved-screen technologies. Hence, the curved aspect might even be a deal-breaker for some.
