The Street Fighter series has a habit of introducing new characters while still being able to retain the old ones for its roster of playable fighters, and that premise is still the same with Street Fighter V. It is both a blessing and a curse as the franchise has already existed for ages. Fans of the popular fighting game are mixed between those who only want to retain characters the likes of Ryu and Chun-Li while there are those who are more than happy for new additions to the roster. But perhaps there is one character that has already acquired a fanbase from both sides is the South Korean master of Tae Kwon Do – Juri. She is even described as being “no ordinary fighter.”
Juri Returns to Street Fighter V on July 26
Juri will be available as a DLC character on July 26 for Street Fighter V. Upon her return, she brings more than just her kicks as she is now sporting a new look, as well as some new tricks up her sleeves. According to Capcom, Juri is “A trained expert in Taekwondo, Juri also possesses a ki booster called the Feng Shui Engine equipped in her left eye to aid her during battles. She focuses on flashy, fast and furious kicks, and has a wide range of ki-based attacks at her disposal. Her trademark moves are her ki-based fireball attack and pinwheel kick. What has Juri been up to since defeating Seth? Why is she back? Be sure to check out the free story DLC “A Shadow Falls” to find out!”
Juri’s V-Skill is called Kasatsushu, which she will build up charges and then rushes at her opponent while kicking them from behind. She can also choose the Kasatsushu by holding down the command for the V-Skill. While on this charge, she can cancel the move at any time by inputting the backward or forward dash commands. Additionally, she can also maintain her charge level after the cancel has been done.
The Tae Kwon Do master from Street Fighter V has a V-Trigger called Feng Shui Engine Type Alpha. When you activate this, Juri will then be able to cancel all of her standard attacks, both on the ground and in the air. Additionally, each of her Fuharenkyaku attacks will always remain on their charged state for the remainder of the time allotted for the V-Trigger.
When Juri comes back to Street Fighter V, she not only brings back her deadly kicks, but she also has a new type of clothing that comes with it. Gone is the bare midriff that was shown in Street Fighter IV, as she now wears a skin-tight scuba suit-looking outfit. Oh, and she also has an eye-patch now.
