ViewSonic VX2457-MHD Review – Obviously Budget-Friendly

The monitor sector is now filled with 4K displays, and there are no signs of the number sliding down anytime soon; but the ViewSonic VX2457-MHD does away with the notion that you have to have UHD resolution to become a good option for interested purchasers. It comes with a 24-inch panel, and the display resolution is at a comfortable 1080p. Furthermore, it even comes with the AMD FreeSync feature, a functionality that is found in higher-priced models. Speaking of its price point, this monitor from ViewSonic won’t hurt your wallet too much.

ViewSonic VX2457-MHD Review - Obviously Budget-Friendly

The ViewSonic VX2457-MHD is a Good Choice for Entertainment

The ViewSonic VX2457-MHD has a TN panel, and the prime reason why the company opted for this hardware choice is because of its relative cheapness. Still, there are some technical advantage to this choice. For instance, one of the largest boost of a TN display is its rapid response times, and the company claims that this particular display has a 1ms response. This is ideal for gaming, as well as viewing action-packed movies and shows.

While the TN panel has its own set of advantages, it certainly has its own set of drawbacks. For one, it has comparatively poor viewing angles and sub-par color reproduction capabilities. It has, however, the AMD FreeSync feature, which is probably its main selling point. What this feature does is that the monitor matches the refresh rate of your computer’s GPU frame rate. This eliminates any sign of tearing and juddering. Hence, games look a lot more smoother as a result. But do note that this only works with compatible GPUs.

When you test the image quality of the VX2457-MHD, benchmark results do start with reasonable outputs. Furthermore, the contrast ratio of 1,361:1 is above average, and it only falls short (albeit only slightly) to other rival monitors. The black levels are more than decent, which means that you will be able to enjoy darker shades with a lot of variation and depth.

For its color temperature and accuracy, the ViewSonic VX2457-MHD presents decent scores as well. The color reproduction could do better, however. Still, it is still good enough for work and play. But those who do professional image editing work will immediately notice the color deficiencies. The monitor’s budget status is fairly obvious in several key areas. But it does so without compromising too much of everything. For those who are in a bit of a tight budget and are wanting a new monitor, you may want to check this one out.
